The Break-Down:
What is the Language God Uses in Dreams

In the Bible, Job reminds us, “For God does speak, now one way, now another, though no one perceives it. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they slumber in their beds, He may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings.” (Job 33:14–16)
Think about Peter. While praying on the rooftop, he fell into a trance and God gave him a vision of a sheet filled with animals. God told him, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.” (Acts 10:15) The vision was not just about food. It was about people. God used symbolism to speak.
God is forever and forever speaking. Can God speak in other ways? Yes! God can do whatever He wants to do. We can study patterns and trust God in those areas. As I have been studying God’s speaking patterns in dreams, it has often shown up with symbolism.
Simply knowing this will open up doors to confirm prayers, hear God, or avoid warnings before they happen. It’s important to know the meaning of the symbolism because it gives you the confidence to understand your dreams and seek God in prayer, knowing what to pray for. Your dreams from God have deep meaning and rich symbolism that give you clear signs, warnings, insight, prophecy, and answers to your questions.
Here are some truths about dreams from God. Yes, both good dreams and what you might understand to be a nightmare are both from God. I also believe you never wake up too early in your dreams. It may feel like your alarm ruined the perfect moment, but you will always wake up at the right time.

Understanding your Dreams from God Biblically
Intro 101 of Symbols
The best part about understanding your dreams from God is that symbols tend to repeat. They are grounded in how they are widely viewed or in your personal connection to them. Symbols are the items you remember in your dreams from God, and the things you forget are the things you were not supposed to remember.
Here are some of the most common Symbolism in your dreams:
- Cars
- Not being able to find them, driving the wrong way, etc.
- Locations
- Old homes, schools, workplace, new city, etc.
- Animals, items, and rooms
- Dogs, snakes, babies, dark rooms, etc.
- Colors, numbers, and clothes on a certain body part
- Hat on a head, you notice shoes that were put on your feet, etc.
These all have a meaning behind them. It’s important to know that the things in your dream are symbolic and are not the real thing in your dream. That may sound confusing, so here is a real example.
The people in your dream, yes, these people are not actually in your dreams. That is not your husband or wife. That is not your pastor or your sibling in your dreams either. They too are symbolic. The answer is they represent how you view them.
How do you see your pastor? is he kind or rude? How do you see your husband or wife? Are they dependable, sneaky or trustworthy? Why is God showing you all these people that are symbolic in your dreams doing strange things? You want to run and go tell them, but no, wait, don’t go do that.
99% of the dreams you get are for you. That’s right. A small group of people, not including myself, often dream about other people. This is a gift from God that comes with an assignment. We are not talking about those gifted children of God. I’m talking about you and myself. So all the people you see and how they act are all pointing to a message in your dream for you.
