The Breakdown
Before we get into this dream, I want to welcome you, the gifted. I want to welcome you, the called. If you’re having these dreams, you’re having these for a reason. I want to tell you why God is preparing you and what this journey will look like so you can know what to expect.
These dreams come in 3 phases.
If you’re at the phase where you’re trying to defend yourself because someone is entering into your home, someone is chasing you, or someone is attacking you in your dream, and you’re trying to fight and defend yourself, but right when you need your voice the most, your voice goes out, this blog is for you.
When you’re trying to throw punches and kicks, and you’re trying everything you can to fight back, and it seems like your attacks are not working, this blog is for you.
Phase 1 of 3 is showing that you are trying everything you can to fight back, to defend yourself, and to show that you are someone who is capable of saving yourself. This dream is saying just that. It’s telling you the truth of what your intentions are. The truth is that you’re outside of the process of what God has for you.
We have to go a step back a little bit further to understand what dreams are. Dreams are a continued conversation that God is having with you when you are awake.
This seems to be a lot of words. Let me break this down for you.
When you’re not dreaming, God is talking to you. He’s wanting to build a closer relationship with you, to grow with you, and for you to come and build a relationship with Him. Everything is about the Father, and He cares about you, so He’s constantly talking to you.
When you are asleep, you are missing all of those distractions that the world offers, and God is still talking to your spirit man while you’re sleeping.
But you’re not just a regular person.
You are gifted.
You are called.
Another reason why you’re having this dream is because God has noticed that you know that you are gifted and you know that you are called, but when you are awake, you’re trying to do everything in your own strength. You want to prove that you are gifted. You’re trying everything you can to be seen, to be heard, and to be used. You’re doing everything you can to use your gift.
But God is telling you that there’s nothing in your strength that you can do to make your gift work. That’s because your gift only works in and through the name of Jesus. Our Lord Jesus Christ is where your strength lies.
Because you’re in phase one, your heart and your mind still believe that you can do something to make this gift come alive.
But the beautiful thing about this dream, and why it falls under the category of preparation, is that this is not a warning. It is not something you should be afraid of. This dream is actually very, very safe.
When you have these dreams, you tend to wake up early. It may seem frustrating waking up right when you are in the heat of battle, but the message was already received.
When someone is breaking into your home, chasing you, or trying to attack you, and you try to speak and nothing comes out, and you try to throw punches but your punches do no damage, you are in phase one of God letting you know that He sees you operating under your own strength.
The Three Phases
The next question you’re probably wondering is, what are the three phases?
In phase one, you are using your own strength to fight off enemies and people that are attacking you and chasing you around your home, knowing that this is a safe place. You’re doing everything you can to defend yourself.
So what is phase number 2?
What is phase number 3?
Well, let’s start with phase 3 first.
Phase number three is when you are truly submitted to God in your natural life when you are awake. You are praying to the Father more often. You are submitted to His will in your life. You are fasting, and you understand that your strength comes from God. You understand that you don’t fight against flesh and blood.
Ephesians 6:12
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
And you understand that you don’t fight against flesh and blood, and you rely on the strength of the Holy Spirit.
You are gifted, but you’re not fighting. You are submitting to the Father. You are a son. You are a daughter. And you know that when you fight, it’s through your worship. It’s through your praise. It’s your strength. It comes from the joy of the Lord.
Nehemiah 8:10
“Then he said to them, ‘Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
When you have these dreams of phase three, you won’t get very many of them, for they are a sign that you have arrived and you understand your strength is in God.
So when you’re in this dream, you’re being chased, someone is following you, or someone breaks into your home. You’re no longer fighting, but you’re praying. You’re laying hands. You’re praying in tongues.
That moment where you feel like you woke up too early, you may even wake up praying. You may wake up with tears in your eyes. You may wake up praying in tongues.
This is how you know you have fully arrived in the full efficiency of the gift that God has placed inside of you, knowing that your strength is in the Lord.
But now let’s talk about phase two.
Phase two is when you start to understand this understanding. You understand that God is your strength. You understand that through Him is your strength, but you haven’t quite understood how to activate it.
This is when you have dreams where you feel like you want to force the words out of your mouth, and the words start to come out, but you really are forcing it. You may even wake up screaming the name of Jesus. You didn’t quite get it into the dream.
You’re finding yourself in the middle of trying to fight your own fights and trying to pray.
These dreams can be consistent. So you can get several of these dreams in a row of you trying to fight your own battles. You’re trying to combine your strength with the Holy Spirit, but because the only thing you know is your strength, you’re still trying to forcefully get the name of Jesus out of your mouth.
You try to force your way into prayer.
You try to force your way in your dream.
You’re in the waiting process, but you’re still offering your own strength.
This dream can cause a lot of confusion because in your mind and your heart, you’re trying, but the results are still the same.
I want to encourage you to keep pushing. Keep seeking God until you are fully submerged in the will of God.
When you get to the point of not just knowing that your strength is in the Lord, but you fully surrender your efforts to the Lord and allow Him to fight your battles for you, phase two comes to an end and phase three starts to begin.
What You Should Do Next
If you’re having these dreams in any phase, the process is always going to be the same.
Seek the Father.
Seek the Father.
Seek the Father.
He desires to have a relationship with you. He desires to call you unto Himself. This is why I’m a firm believer that 99.99% of the dreams you have are about you. They’re not about the next person. They’re not about the people you see in your dreams. They’re not even about the locations you’re at.
They’re about you.
This is why I tell people that if you have a dream about other people, don’t call them and tell them you had a dream about them. Instead, understand that what you’re seeing is God trying to get your attention.
If you have a gift from God and you’re having these dreams, it is very important that you seek the Father. Pray and ask Him:
- “Lord, help me rely on Your strength. Help me depend on You and not my own strength. I surrender my life to You.”
- Then follow up that prayer with fasting.
- Follow it up by finding scriptures in the Bible that help you with your struggles.
- Stay connected to your pastor and your elders.
- Talk to your spouse and the loved ones you trust who can help you get to a point where your gift is not being used through your own strength but is being led by the Holy Spirit.

This is a deep layer. I understand what you are saying. Dreams about old home CAN mean what your pastor said, but that is 1 possibility, The real meaning of old homes is explained in the blog. Old home is the Location in phase 1, it set the tone of what you are about to experience. It can be bad or good but Old Homes sets the tone. God is painting a picture and old home can have dark undertones as it points to your past and/or long relationship with you or your family. Good question
