Why Am I Flirting in My Dream

Why Am I Flirting in My Dream

QUESTION:

What does it mean when I’m flirting or cheating in my dreams?

ANSWER:

God has called you to Himself, gifted you with a purpose, and DELIVERED YOU FROM SOMETHING and told you not to go back… But you did turn back to it. Flirting in dreams is a spiritual warning of dabbling in what God has released you from.

Luke 11:24–26
“When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first.”

Flirting in My Dream:

Why Am I Flirting in My Dream?
Why Am I Flirting in My Dream?

Break-Down

Well, here we go! First things first! Let’s recap people in your dreams. In past blogs, we’ve already established that people in dreams are symbolic and NOT the actual person you see. People in dreams are not a one-to-one value. Rather, the people we see in our dreams represent how we see them. Are they someone who is always stealing? Are they a leader in your life? Are they a safe place, trustworthy, etc.? Flirting in your dreams represents the act of flirting or the breaking of a commitment.

Comment below “TALK ABOUT PEOPLE,” and I will cover people in dreams next.

Why Am I Getting This Dream?

Why Am I Getting This Dream?
Why Am I Getting This Dream?

As believers of Jesus, our true commitment is to Christ; we are His bride. When you are flirting in a dream, it is breaking that commitment to Jesus Christ. He has pulled you from something, forgave you, and told you not to return, but you secretly do. In your heart, you find ways to leave the door open. When your heart is open to your past, you will dream about it in the form of flirting. This dream appears when you are slowly, quietly, or even secretly dabbling in things that should have already been let go, things that are now hindering your relationship with Jesus.

This could be partying, drugs, addiction, certain people, or anything that is pulling your attention and desire away from Christ. In many cases, these are things you have prayed to be delivered from, things you openly struggle with and no longer want to be a part of, yet something inside of you is still drawn to them. Something inside of you is still partaking, even if only in small or hidden ways. This is the foundation of why this dream occurs.

What Can I Do About This Dream?

Dreams are symbolic, as we talked about in another Blog What is the Language God Uses in Dreams

Dreams are a continued conversation with God the Father that carries on while you are asleep. When you are awake and living your daily life, God is speaking to you, drawing you closer to Him, helping you mature, and revealing His heart. But because life is busy and filled with distractions, we don’t always hear everything God is trying to say.

When you are asleep, the distractions are turned off. Your flesh is at rest, but your spirit is still awake and in conversation with God. And because God communicates through symbolism and His Spirit, dreams are given to us in the same way. That’s why dreams often speak in pictures, scenes, and emotions rather than direct words.

So when you are having dreams about being seduced or flirting, it is directly connected to your relationship with Christ, as we mentioned earlier. Whatever you are dabbling in, or whatever is pulling at your attention, is trying to fuse with you, merge with you, and become one with you.

So when you are dreaming of being seduced or being the one who is seducing, it is not about cheating on a spouse. It is about cheating on your relationship with the Father. That bond of oneness, your spiritual covering, your heart, and your mind are being affected.

This is not a dream of judgment, but a warning. God is saying that if you continue down this path, it will be like cheating. The enemy is not here just to tempt you. He comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Not always physically, but by placing pressure, depression, and heaviness on your spirit until you feel worn down and worthless. These dreams may feel exciting at first, even pleasurable, but if they continue unchecked, they can slowly destroy everything around you.

In the Bible, Job reminds us, “For God does speak, now one way, now another, though no one perceives it. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they slumber in their beds, He may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings.” (Job 33:14–16)

The Biblical Meaning of Old Homes in Dreams

Old House
Old House

Break-Down:

Old homes are one of the most common and most misunderstood dream locations. In addition to that, these dreams are some of my favorites because I often call the people who have them SUPER HEROES who have yet to know they are HEROES. When God places you inside an old house, He is rarely just pointing back to nostalgia or memories. Old homes in dreams represent lingering spiritual battles, generational cycles, or unresolved issues that still carry weight in your life. They are signs that something from the past has not been dealt with, and until it is, it will continue to follow you.

Why Am I Getting This Dream?

Dreaming of an old home is VERY IMPORTANT. It is God’s way of highlighting the roots beneath the surface in you and/or your family. These dreams often point to familiar spirits, bloodline struggles, or altars that still exist in your family line. Old homes expose the giants that are not only in your life, but in your family’s name. You are having this dream because God has appointed you to do something hard.

What Can I Do About This Dream?

2 things, these dreams will tell you exactly where to start in this journey. At the same time, you will keep having this dream until you are ready to face it. This is why people who consistently dream of old homes are often the ones chosen by God to break cycles in their families. If you have had this dream, it is not because you are weak, it is because you are strong. You are being entrusted to confront what others in your family have ignored.

Follow-Up Questions

Q1: How can I tell the difference between a dream about the past or about the future?

Good question. Dreams from God are symbolic, so the location has a foundational meaning behind it. The old home itself is the symbol pointing to something generational and rooted in your family. If God wanted to highlight something tied to your current life or your future, He would shift the location to your current or future home.

How Do You Know Your Dream Is From God

How Do You Know Your Dream Is From God

Question: How do you know your dream is From God

Answer: Dreams from God MUST have these 4 things or your dream is not from God.

  1. All of your five senses are on high alert. Everything seems real, as if you are awake. You are hyper-aware of your surroundings. You can smell, taste, and see people you know. You can feel the sand under your feet and feel the sun on your skin.
  2. Locations are highlighted. You know you are at an old home or at a scary location. The location is very deep and foundational. It is the foundation of your dream. Yes, you can transfer to other locations in dreams.
  3. Your thoughts and emotions are your guide. You can trust these and trust your response, as it is connected to your nature. Your thoughts and emotions are given by God so you can effectively understand what room you are in or clearly understand where you are.
  4. Last, but the most important, there is a message in the dream. This is the moment right before you wake up. What was said to you that sticks in your head, or what was given to you, etc. You cannot shake the dream for weeks, months, or even years.

The Break-Down

How Do You Know Your Dream Is From God?
How Do You Know Your Dream Is From God?

All five senses, location, your thoughts, your emotions, and the message of the dream are the foundational pieces that confirm your dream is from God.

Your senses will make the dream feel real, almost as if you are awake and moving through a world that feels familiar, even when it looks different. You can feel the ground under your feet and the wind on your skin. Your five senses pull you into a world where everything feels real.

The next piece is location. I personally believe this is the most important part of the dream, outside of the message itself. Location is the blank canvas God uses to paint His message to you. For example, an old school represents a place of learning, even if you transferred to new locations in your dream. Where your dream starts is the root of the dream. If your dream begins in an old home, it may be pointing to long-lasting struggles rooted in your family, such as generational patterns, soul ties, or deeper family roots that need to be fixed by you.

Are you in the wilderness? Is it dark or light? Is it morning or night? All of these details set the stage for what God is trying to reveal to you.

You might ask, how do I understand the location and my senses? The answer is through your thoughts and emotions. God uses your internal responses to guide you through the dream and lead you toward understanding.

I also believe that the actions you take in your dream, whether good or bad, reveal the condition of your heart. Do not be embarrassed or ashamed of what you do in the dream. These actions reflect the nature of your inner self, your spirit man. We will talk more about this later.

Lastly, there is the message of the dream. The message is the reason the dream exists. Dreams from God are not random. They are part of an ongoing conversation. Before you went to sleep, God was already speaking to you. When you wake up, God is waiting for you to seek Him and ask what the dream means, because He is the One who gave it to you.

All of these elements make up Phase One of my three-phase dream interpretation equation. I truly believe we are not ready to break down the full equation yet. But one day, we will. For now, let’s go deeper into locations, emotions, and thoughts.

Locations in Dreams from God

Church, Home, or School in dreams
Church, Home, or School in dreams

A few examples:

  • School: A school dream is about teaching, testing, or preparation. Are you late for class? Sitting on the bench during a game? Struggling to find your way?
  • Church: The church is a symbol of God’s presence. It shows that you are dealing with His community, His people, and His facility. This does not always mean everything you see is holy or righteous. Sometimes you may see pastors or familiar people behaving wrongly or correctly. Remember, people in dreams are symbolic and not always a one-to-one reflection of themselves.
  • Home: A home represents your personal life, but it can also carry layers of meaning.
    • A new home points to a fresh journey, a season of change where your lifestyle itself may be different.
    • A current home points to your daily life today, the thumbprint of your routine right now.
    • A past home points to generational connections, familiar spiritual or physical patterns, cycles, or even altars in your life.

The Message / The Heartbeat of a Dream

A message from God
A message from God

Most of the time, it can be summarized in 1–3 sentences: “I had a dream where my hair was falling out.” Or “I went back to my old house. Someone was chasing me, and I turned to fight, but my punches didn’t affect them.”

That short summary is the essence of the message. The heartbeat almost always comes at the end of the dream, right before you wake up, which is why you will never wake up too early from a dream given by God. If you woke up, then you received the message He intended for you.

The number one thing to pull from your dreams from God, if I had to pick one, is to understand the message. The message is the reason why God gave you the dream. It comes in the form of words being said to you, giving you instructions or dates, etc. It can also be something given to you or something that happened to you. It normally happens at the end of the dream, right before you wake up. The message of your dream is normally how you explain your dream to someone in 1–3 sentences.

EX:

“I had a dream I was bitten by a lion.”

“I had a dream I was late to my flight because my friends couldn’t find their bags.”

“I had a dream I couldn’t find my car when I was at school.”

I wrote this to help guide you in seeking God about your dreams. Find Him and look for Him in these matters. I will write more to you soon, brothers and sisters.

~Until then, I’ll see you on the battlefield.
